Freida Pinto | The Importance of Being Oreo

Wow, Freida Pinto has never really featured on any of my best dressed lists. Sometimes she hits the mark sometimes she misses it spectacularly.

But Freida has struck gold with her style team for Cannes this year without a doubt.

From her Michael Angel gown for the Opening Ceremony and Moonrise Kingdom premiere, to a quick change into a sexy black full length Versace gown for the opening ceremony dinner. To the next day where she wore a look from one of my favourite Couture shows from 2012, Atelier Versace. Her lime green gown with metal gold accents at the hip were fashioned from a genius – yes Donatella you – everything about the look on Freida was sexy and sexy.

Her Paco Rabanne midi length dress for the L’Oreal Paris Anniversary Dinner was even a hit on my list, the gold embellished dress underneath the white sheath was elegant but still hinted at sexy (we’ll just ignore the shoes). And I die for the Salvatore Ferragamo skirt and halter neck top she wore for the Desert Dance photocall, I think I’m going through a phase of liking the cropped style tops and high-waist skirts a definite favourite at the moment.

The Cannes Film Festival held at the Palais des Festivals is majah. So majah that you will never see as many couture gowns on a red carpet than any other event in the whole year.

As we all know Cannes is a festival about film, but sometimes the fashion is more important especially when the film premiering is Madagascar 3…

The Opening Ceremony, which also doubled for the premiere of Wes Anderson’s new movie Moonrise Kingdom, saw L’Oreal girl Eva Longoria hit the red carpet in a breathtakingly beautiful Marchesa gown; my number one style crush, and serving as a jury member for the festival, Diane Kruger, looking elegant in a Giambattista Valli Couture mint green flowing chiffon dress; Eva Herzigova rocking some gorgeous jewels and Dolce & Gabbana gown, and Freida Pinto in a colourful Michael Angel dress with a candy pink skirt.

Now I wouldn’t normally talk Jane Fonda, but man she has the body of a 21-year-old athlete. Her days of keeping fit have not let her down at all. She looked striking in Atelier Versace at the opening ceremony and the premiere for the film Moonrise Kingdom.
