The Royal Wedding

I’m one of those people that becomes all patriotic for the day when something happens in the UK that makes you proud to be British. The Royal Wedding was a beautiful, happy occasion perfectly orchestrated by the family. We saw Prince William marry his sweetheart Kate Middleton, and all eyes were on the bride the whole time. The Duchess of Cambridge as Kate is now officially known, stepped out in a dress made by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. It was what I had hoped for it was what everyone else had hoped for, that she would chose a British designer to take her from commoner to royal. And the dress was absolutely stunning, delicate, and perfect for the new princess and very reminiscent of Princess Grace as so many people commented.

The cake, amazing.

Just as exciting as the wedding itself and the arrival of the bride and groom and the extended family, was the arrival of the VIP guests most importantly the Beckhams. Almost royalty themselves (ha) Victoria and David arrived to their own fanfare (well I like to think they did), Victoria in her own custom dress from her AW ’11 line and David in Ralph Lauren Purple Label adorned with his OBE. As well as Tara Palmer-Tompkinson who looked lovley in all royal blue, and who escaped the radar Joss Stone, why was she there urgh.

Tara Palmer-Tompkinson in all blue took away from her collapsed nose.

Anyway we have plenty of days ahead of us to see the royal wedding pictures, videos, and articles what i’m looking forward to is her first magazine cover… If she does one I hope as What Serena Saw pointed out that she also sticks to a British designer for her outfit.

So the next thing to look forward to is Monday, the MET Ball and the late Alexander McQueen who is being honoured, with an exhibition called Savage Beauty’. The world’s fashion elite are invited and I expect to see some amazing gowns, maybe not as amazing as Kate’s wedding dress but certainly many stunning creations.

Here's Coco Rocha's MET Ball invite. One lucky gal.

Rachel Bilson enjoys a Magnum

I heard Rachel Bilson was working with Karl Lagerfeld a couple of months ago, I was beyond excited, what could it be about why her why him? And so I find out that Magnum ice cream are launching in the US (who knew they weren’t a global brand already?) and enlisted Karl Lagerfeld to direct a series of short films with Rachel Bilson starring and also featuring his favourite boytoy model Baptiste Giabiconi to promote them. I wonder how much Karl is getting paid for that, he recently admitted to W Magazine that he doesn’t even like ice cream or chocolate for that matter and claims that he hasn’t eaten sugar for 10 years and that he “eats with [his] nose”. WHAT?!

The first film was released at the Tribeca Film Festival entitled Photo Mood. We see a starlet (Bilson) being directed by a demanding photographer (Giabiconi) when a Magnum ice cream catches her eye, she stops the shoot to grab one out of the freezer that they just happen to have on set. It’s odd to say the least, there is no point to the ice cream, and no relation to what the shoot is about which usually happens when ad campaigns like this happen. Ah well, hopefully the next two will be better, Art Class and Applause are yet to be released.

Also today Karl was pictured further promoting Magnum by designing a Paris hotel room made entirely out of Belgian chocolate (the stuff he doesn’t like, yes) and even the model was edible… And as Heat rightly pointed out it looks more like Joey Essex than Baptiste Giabiconi who it was supposed to be. REEM.

Blake Lively sees red

So I awoke this morning to find that Blake Lively had turned red. Not in the face, but her hair. Her beautiful long blonde locks gone just like that, turned a pale gingery-coppery tone. Turning up at the Time 100 Most Influential People Gala in an aqua Zuhair Murad full-length gown she had her hair in a Jessica Rabbit inspired style. At first I was gobsmacked, totally thrown for a loop, I wouldn’t have dreamed in a million years that Blake would sacrifice her trademark blonde tresses, she didn’t even do it properly for her role as Carol Ferris in the up coming Green Lantern so why do it now?

My thoughts go along the line of she’s 23, and she’s young (the same age as me), she has the world’s best stylists at her fingertips so I’m sure she is just experimenting and if she doesn’t want to keep it she can go back in a flash. And I would not be surprised if a certain new BFF going by the name of Florence was her inspiration. Anyway I didn’t like it at first, I’m warming to it but who really cares after all she is gorgeous enough to suit anything!

Coachella Weekend

It’s the weekend where all the coolest hottest people in the US fly over to Indio, California to the desert for a 3 day music and arts festival with all the top names headlining. This year Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, Kanye West, The Black Keys, Lauryn Hill, Animal Collective and Mumford & Sons are to name a few of those who are playing at the festival.

I’d love to be there chilling with all the cool people, checking out what people are wearing. Instead I shall do it from afar, it’s the best part really, celebs flock there to enjoy the sunshine and relaxed atmosphere and there’s some of my favourite people there this year…

The return of my favourite couple, Diane Kruger and Josh Jackson looking very much in love. Diane ever the style queen is rocking a nude maxi skirt a great look for a music fest and that classic trilby her favourite goto accessory.

How I love it when I see celebs hanging out with each other, even though I dont think Nina Dobrev and the hottie that is Ian Somerhalder are a couple they look cute together. Nina in a classic summer outfit, a definite favourite of mine, denim cutoffs you can never go wrong.

As I always say Im not a fan of Kate Bosworth as an actress (apart from in Blue Crush ha) but her style here is flawless, white denim shorts and Im pretty sure thats a Topshop vest looks f**king awesome. Understated but enough cool to make it a perfect outfit, in fact so good that I want some white denim shorts now, and arm candy Alexander Skarsgard wouldnt go amiss.

Victorias Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio looks all pretty and summery, the boots could have been swapped for some sandals but Im absolutely loving the scarf it adds depth to the white peasant skirt and top look.

Vanessa Hudgens has taken the festival look a tad too far, but the individual pieces are gorgeous like the floppy hat the colour of her top and the piles of bangles and necklaces. The trousers... well erm the thought was there.

Camilla Belle at a bbq thrown by Mulberry at Coachella, another celeb in denim shorts such an easy go to with a cute blouse and sunnies.

I heart Nicole. Her day to day style is great, and she sticks to what she knows with a hippy vibe touch. Super short denim cutoffs look gorgeous with this flower print blouse, and with heels to sharpen her whole outfit.

Rihanna looking damn hot as usual, denim cutoffs (beginning to see a theme here...) and a light camouflage jacket which I love and of course the fiery red hair that is fast becoming a trademark!

Jennifer Lawrence in GQ

It’s not like there aren’t enough blonde-haired, doe-eyed hot American actresses out there but as GQ points out this certain actress is only 20 and already Oscar-nominated for Winter’s Bone, a little unknown film that earnt her a best actress nod.

And like GQ also says no one cared that she didn’t win when she rocked up in a red hot Calvin Klein dress.

Jennifer Lawrence will be hitting our screens this summer in her first big blockbuster, X-Men: First Class, as Mystique. Rightly so she has to be in the best shape of her life and her shoot for GQ proves just this, I was a little concerned about the way she looked in her costume on the cover of Empire magazine but I’m sure the hotness will transfer to the big screen as well as her Oscar-nominated acting talent.

WonderCon 2011: Green Lantern and the absence of X-Men

WonderCon, we shall say is the baby sister of ComicCon, the three day weekend that has fanboys over in America squealing with delight. Mainly showcasing stalls and stalls of comic backissues, and then movies based on comic books this is a big hitter for the actors, actresses, directors and producers of the movies that are to follow this year.

The big one for me was the preview of Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan and Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, other stars include Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard and Geoffrey Rush. The preview scenes are fantastic, not being picky because I aren’t familiar with the actual comic book itself the film itself looks brilliant. The effects don’t look overdone but it is to be in 3d, Ryan Reynolds is funny which is always a good thing and I can’t help it but he looks hot in the suit. There were no teasers of Blake Lively’s Carol Ferris/Star Sapphire costume, but apparently she hinted that she requested for more material, so boys I’m sure you’ll all be happy that Blake has her boobs out no doubt a definite trademark of hers.

According to Latino Review, Ryan Reynolds was asked a fair few questions about the ominous Deadpool. He deflected some, but the main gist is that he’s waiting on Fox and that the Justice League movie is “in development”, he said he didn’t want to get into the Deadpool stuff in regards to an individual movie but said of the Deadpool character – “He’s not a villain, he’s an asshole”.

A big vacant hole was left by X-Men: First Class not appearing at WonderCon, which surprised me considering its release at the beginning of June, but I’m assuming it will just rely heavily on its huge fanbase rather than having preview teasers although a panel would have worked well. It would be nice to see an official poster rather than that shitty one that was released on the net a few months ago that didn’t even look real.

Empire magazine debuted its double cover X-Men edition, featuring James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Nicholas Hoult as Beast and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique who does not look as good as Rebecca Romjin did but I’m assuming she will look better on screen. The alternate cover sees Michael Fassbender as Erik Renshaw, January Jones as Emma Frost and Jason Flemyng as Azazel whos costume make up I’m not familiar with that looks pretty cheap.
